The Travel and Tourism Development Centre (TTDC) was formally launched on 8 August 2026 at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, introducing a new national platform focused on the sustainable development of Bangladesh’s travel, tourism, hospitality, and aviation sectors.
The launching ceremony brought together government officials, policymakers, tourism professionals, aviation and hospitality leaders, researchers, and representatives from the private sector. Chologhuri was also pleased to participate in this important industry event, joining other stakeholders in discussions on the future of Bangladesh’s tourism sector.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Afroza Khanam Rita, MP, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, highlighted the significant economic potential of tourism and called for stronger collaboration between the government and private sector. She noted that tourism currently contributes nearly 3% to Bangladesh’s GDP, supports more than 2 million jobs, and has the potential to contribute 6–7% of GDP in the coming years.
TTDC President Kazi Wahidul Alam introduced the organisation as an independent platform for research, policy dialogue, knowledge sharing, and industry advocacy. The organisation aims to strengthen cooperation among travel, tourism, aviation, and hospitality stakeholders and help position Bangladesh as a more competitive global destination.
For Chologhuri, participating in the TTDC launch reflects our commitment to staying connected with the evolving travel and tourism industry and contributing to a stronger, more collaborative tourism ecosystem in Bangladesh.
