Upon arrival at Paro International Airport via DrukAir or Bhutan Airlines, you will complete immigration formalities and be warmly welcomed by your local tour guide. From Paro, enjoy a scenic 1-hour drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. After checking in at your hotel, begin your exploration with a visit to Kuensel Phodrang to see the towering Buddha Dordenma statue and enjoy panoramic views of Thimphu Valley. Later, witness Bhutan’s national sport—archery—at a local ground, and visit the lively Craft Bazaar, where artisans from across the country showcase traditional Bhutanese handicrafts. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Start the day with a visit to the Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s unique national animal, the Takin, a rare goat-antelope found only in this region. Next, head to Sangaygang BBS Tower for a spectacular bird’s-eye view of Thimphu city and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Continue to Coronation Park by the Wangchu River—a peaceful retreat with floral gardens and a central Buddha statue. Explore the tranquil Zilukha Nunnery, home to over 60 Buddhist nuns, and enjoy distant views of Tashichho Dzong. Lastly, visit the Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn Bhutan's 13 traditional arts. Overnight in Thimphu.

After breakfast, check out and begin the journey toward Punakha with your first stop at Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress known for its intricate Buddhist slate carvings. Continue driving to Dochula Pass (3,140 meters), where, on a clear day, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas and 108 memorial chortens. After lunch, proceed to Punakha and admire the magnificent Punakha Dzong from across the river—a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture. Conclude the day with a walk across the 180-meter-long Punakha Suspension Bridge, offering breathtaking views of the Po Chhu River and surrounding valley. Overnight in Punakha.

Today, depart Punakha and head back toward Paro, with several interesting stops along the way. Visit Tamchog Lhakhang, a 13th-century temple built by the legendary iron-bridge builder Thangthong Gyalpo. Cross its historic iron chain bridge for a thrilling experience. Continue through the picturesque Paro Valley and observe the glacier-fed Paro Chhu river, a vital resource for the region’s agriculture. Before hotel check-in, enjoy a bird's-eye view of the iconic Paro International Airport and visit the National Museum to learn about Bhutan’s rich cultural history. Overnight stay in Paro.

After breakfast, begin your Paro tour with a visit to Dungtse Lhakhang, a unique temple believed to have been built to subdue an ogress. It is famous for its ancient murals and unusual architecture. Then head to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery viewpoint to marvel at Bhutan’s most iconic landmark, Taktsang Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff (hike optional). Continue to Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress built in 1649 that once defended Bhutan from invasions and is now partially restored. In the evening, stroll through Paro town, visit Paro Dzong, and cross the traditional cantilever bridge. Browse local handicraft shops before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Paro.
